The Bobby Doyle Summer Classic 5 Mile Run is held in honor of Bobby Doyle, a legendary Rhode Island marathoner whose personal best of 2:14:03 in 1979 still stands as the fastest ever by a native Rhode Islander. Since its inception in 2008, the race has become a fixture on the New England summer road racing circuit, often hosting the USATF New England 5 Mile Championships and attracting the region’s top talent. The mostly flat, out-and-back course starts and ends at Narragansett Middle School and takes you on a scenic tour of Narragansett that features panoramic ocean views.
