Open Female

In the open female category, last year’s overall winner, Alice Paul of Women on the Run – Barrington, continued her winning ways by taking the title with an impressive time of 40:30. Behind her was a three-way battle with Alexis Peters of Run Newport (2nd), Amanda Hawkins of the Gansett Run Club (3rd), and Jamie Manzo of the Rhode Warriors (4th) all finishing within a minute of one another. Rounding out the top 5 was another Run Newport team member, Beth Blendell, who finished in 48:38.

Open Male

The battle for the win in the Open Male category could not have been closer with Ken Vinacco of the Adult Sentinel Striders and Christopher Collet of Run Newport finishing with the exact same time. However, Ken was listed ahead of Christopher in the final RaceWire results, so he earned the RIGP title and corresponding 1000 points. Finishing just 10 seconds behind them in 3rd was Ken’s brother and fellow Adult Sentinel Strider, Matthew Vinacco, who was last year’s overall winner. Yet another Strider, Ryan Pagliaro, took 4th, while another Run Newport team member named Chris, Chris Cure, rounded out the Top 5.

Masters Female

In the masters female category, Brett Ely of Women on the Run Barrington took the title with an outstanding age grade of 82, which was the highest of the day across all categories. In second place with an age grade of 75 was freshly minted masters runner, Erica Knighton, who last year placed 3rd in the Open Female category. Behind her was a tight race for 3rd with Blythe Gould of the Phantom Farms Flyers (73.5 AG) edging out Shannon Krasnowiecki of the Gemini Run Club (73.4 AG). Rounding out the Top 5 was another masters category newcomer, Tessa Kramer of Women on the Run Barrington (71 AG).

Masters Male

In the masters male category, newcomer Kyle Marshall of Run Newport came away with the victory, having earned an age grade of 73.7 for his strong 37:10 performance. Hot on his heels were Lynn Cousineau of the Gemini Run Club and Bob Segal of the Westerly Track & Athletic Club who earned age grades of 72.0 and 71.0, respectively. Finishing in 4th and 5th were two more Run Newport team members, Doug Suhr (69.0 AG) and Adam Stadel (67.0 AG).

Non-Binary

In the Non-Binary category fellow RI Grand Prix newcomer, CJ Squires, braved the wind and hills to earn 1000 points and put themselves atop the leaderboard. Although last year’s overall winner, Ellie Parsons, did not compete, they are entered in this year’s series, which will make for quite the duel once they open up their season!
